My little boy was 5 when he was diagnosed with ITP. The huge bruises all over tipped us off, and a good doctor had the sense to order blood work immediately followed by a terrifing phone call at 9pm at night by a pediatrician to tell us to let him sleep on the floor away from anything sharp and put pillows around him, if he starts to bleed for any reason call 911 asap! Well we didn't sleep that night, we watched HIM sleep! The next day he was admitted to the hospital and was diagnosed with ITP, immuno globulin treatments were administered to help bring his platellets up from the mere 2400.(Normal they tell me is between 150,000-400,000) He was sent home 3 days later, but within 2 wks we returned for the same treatment. This time it would keep him out of the hospital a little longer but still back we went, this time they even dug out with a cork screw like contraption a piece of bone marrow from his rump to check for cancer, quite the process! Upon departure they sent us packing with a round of Prednisone for one month trial. Even our pediatrician didn't like this option! When I asked is thier anything at all I can do? The response was no. I asked not even diet changes? No again.
Couldn't help but think all logic says that was a load of @.. you get the picture! So off to a Natural path we went. First things first CLEAN UP HIS DIET was the response, at least she suggested we start with breakfast, read ingredients! So much breaky food (cereals) have sugar. Like thats really a good way to start your day hey?! I didn't think we had a bad diet to begin with but apparently just like Viv's story alot of it was taming out the stuff that he was allergic or sensitive too. Long story short we cleaned up not only his breakfast but pretty much everything else...Guess what? Viola after months of diligence it payed off, we are now into years of diligence (well okay diligence as much as we can in this world we live today!) and the pediatrician dosn't even want to see him anymore he is doing so good! The same pediatrician that said he should also not really play any sports! My little boy dosn't like sports, no, he LOVES them, he was riding a 2 wheeler at age 3, at age 7 he was the youngest member on a hockey team that made 1st place that year & he kept up more then his fair share! We now find that if he's had alot of the 'bad' foods sneek into his life he gets dark circles under his eyes and starts to get very irratable. We also take him to a bio-feedback specialist, (based on Quantum physics) as wierd as the whole concept is, you can certainly tell when he's had a session, a couple days later he has that 'bounce' in his steps again. His condition is 'Chronic' so he will have this battle with bad foods for the rest of his life. I am so gratefull to see other stories similar posted and I hope others keep looking for the 'cuase's that make them down. Good on Viv!! 'Life in its simplicity is really an 'ah' of inspiration!' Its been amazing to see how the body has the ability to heal itself when its fed the proper fuel and taken care of. So we will continue to enhance and educate ourselves on all the 'simplicities' that we (the general public) seem to have forgotton about over the years, like how to eat things that don't come in box and arn't covered in or made up of chemicals/pesticides etc.

Hi,
I am 46, diagnosed with ITP 6 yrs. A doc. gave me medication which exacerbated my condition. Now they want to do a splenectomy. I am fed up with the steroids. I was told to check for allergy to wheat. I live in the Caribbean. Can you help me with the natural diet plan ? I had decided to do the splenectomy but after reading your article, I want to try your method. Please help me.
Regards,
